Studies in Romania
In recent years, Romania has emerged as a premier destination for Moroccan students seeking high-quality academic education in Europe. By combining affordable tuition with a wide range of prestigious programs, Romanian universities offer golden opportunities for ambitious students in fields such as medicine, technology, economics, and social sciences.
The Romanian Higher Education System
Higher education in Romania adheres to the European “Bologna Process” standards, ensuring that degrees earned are internationally recognized. The system is organized into three academic levels (LMD):

Bachelor’s Degree: The foundational undergraduate stage.
Master’s Degree: Specialized postgraduate studies.
Doctoral Degree: Advanced research-based studies.
Institutions are divided into public and private sectors. If you choose a private institution, we always recommend verifying that it is recognized by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation to ensure your degree can be officially accredited later.
Languages of Instruction: Choose What Suits You
While Romanian is the official language, many universities offer full degree programs taught in English, French, or German.
Study in Romanian: This typically requires completing a “preparatory year” to master the language, unless you are already fluent and can pass a proficiency test.
Study in Foreign Languages: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in their chosen language of instruction during the application process.
Admissions and Registration Process
The registration process is managed through a collaboration between the chosen university and the Romanian Ministry of Education. Here is your roadmap:
Submit your application directly to your chosen university.
The university reviews your file and forwards it to the Romanian Ministry of Education.
Upon approval, you will receive an official “Letter of Acceptance” via mail or email.
Essential Documents for University Registration:
Registration form (2 copies).
Certified copy of your Baccalaureate diploma or equivalent.
Proof of language proficiency.
Certified copies of your passport and birth certificate.
Medical certificate and translated military registration card.
Obtaining Your Student Visa
Once you hold your Letter of Acceptance, you can begin the visa application. You will need a complete file, including:
The original Letter of Acceptance issued by the Romanian Ministry of Education.
Proof of financial means (bank statements for the last three months and employment certificate of your sponsor).
A notarized statement from your parents/legal representative guaranteeing coverage of all study and living expenses.
Medical and travel insurance.
Proof of full payment of tuition fees for the first year.
Criminal record (anthropometric record) and birth certificate.
Scholarships for International Students
Beyond self-funded options, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education offer annual scholarships for non-EU students. These cover tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly stipend for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels. We encourage you to regularly check the official website of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for opening dates.
